My Story
How I became a Massage Therapist in Plymouth
After graduating from university with a science degree in 1991 I decided to learn something completely different. In fact, a few months later, I enrolled on a professional course in Massage, Anatomy and Physiology. Interestingly, I have always had an affinity with massage and enjoyed giving my friends and family a shoulder or head massage to help them relax. This course, leading to becoming a massage therapist in Plymouth, seemed like something I might enjoy and be good at. It is often said that “I am a natural” or “I have healing hands”.
“She really has the healing hands, I felt so much better afterwards and will definitely go there again. I would totally recommend her.” – Mary, Client
I loved the course and I registered as a self-employed massage therapist a few years later. Since then I have never looked back. Over the years I have trained in various other disciplines. As a result I now offer a wide selection of Complementary Therapies. What’s more, I have also completed a 6 month Introduction to counselling and a 1 year Natural Nutrition course.
Staying fit and healthy is important to me. What’s more, it’s good for me to look after my mental as well as physical wellbeing. Surprisingly,In 2021 I completed my first Olympic distance Triathlon and in doing so fundraising for Devon Mind. I’ve now got the bug!
I believe in taking a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. So helping women to improve their own health and wellbeing through self-empowerment is important to me. As women we tend to think about looking after ourselves as something we should feel guilty about. Often we are so dedicated to looking after others that our own health and wellbeing gets forgotten.
