Aromatherapy Massage Treatments

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to promote healing and well-being. The oils derive from flowers, leaves, plants and trees. The term 'aromatherapy' was first used by Dr R M Gattefosse at the beginning of the 18th century but the therapeutic use of plants and their oils can be traced back for millennia. There are many ways of using oils beneficially. These include: baths, compresses, inhalations and vaporisation. However, the main use is through massage whereby the oils are absorbed through the skin. Using oils safely is a complex art that requires in-depth training.

Massage, combined with essential oils, produces a highly effective way of healing. Together they enhance the circulation of blood and lymph, relax and tone tense muscles, improve nervous conductivity and promote an overall sense of well-being.

What to expect

Initital treatment involves a consultation whereby you will be asked about your health and vitality, medical history and your general emotional well-being. (All information is kept in strictest confidence.)

Benefits

Aromatherapy can be of benefit to everyone. It can alleviate stress, releases tension and eliminates toxins held in the body. The absorption of essential oils through the skin combined with massage encourages lymphatic drainage and mobilises toxins, which can be beneficial in treating obesity, cellulite and water retention.

Aromatherapy massage induces a state of deep relaxation, increased well-being and renewed energy. Specific essential oils can help with particular ailments including muscular aches and pains, inflammatory conditions such as rheumatism and arthritis, skin problems, premenstrual tension, irritable bowel syndrome, asthma, insomnia, anxiety and depression.

As a qualified practitioner I can give you the opportunity to discuss your condition with a professional with years of training and experience.
